Born out of a deep appreciation for our nation and the freedoms we value, OOW was established in 1981 to equip military and law enforcement with essential firearms.
To support this purpose OOW is a Class 3 manufacturer of automatic and semi-automatic firearms for military and law enforcement applications. Ohio Ordnance Works’ manufacturing capabilities are founded on certified ISO 9000 rigor, giving the highest level of control for repeatable success and reliability.

About Our Founder, Robert (Bob) I. Landies
For over 44 years Bob Landies has engaged in weapons design, manufacturing and application in tactical and strategic capacities. His background includes assignments with TRW’s Jet Engine and Naval Torpedo divisions, and seven years of military service (active and reserve) as a U.S. Army tank commander and Armor Officer. In 1981 he began the Ohio Ordnance Works company, specializing in military firearms trade, custom design and manufacturing. His experience uniquely positioned him to build a company that excelled at repair of military grade automatic firearms for U.S. armed services. This naturally led to the company’s focus on the design, manufacture, and sales of ultra-high quality combat firearms.
