Overview

The Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) model 1918 was developed by John M. Browning in 1917. Approximately 350,000 were produced through the end of World War II. Ohio Ordnance Works, Inc. produces a semi-automatic reproduction (M1918A3, based on WWII version) of this venerable design so that you can own a piece of history. The only one of it’s kind in production anywhere in the world, it is manufactured with some of the original USGI WWI and WWII parts.

For the last 21 years we have taken great care in the building of each rifle. Only the highest quality Ohio Ordnance new manufacture and USGI standard parts are used in its production. Our receivers are machined from AISI 4140 steel billet on our state of the art CNC machining centers. Every rifle is fully assembled, inspected, test fired, and re-inspected under the direct supervision of our master armorer.

Historical Design and Authenticity

The OOW 1918A3 BAR is a faithful reproduction of the iconic M1918 BAR used during World Wars I and II. It retains key design elements such as the classic receiver, walnut furniture, and distinctive overall appearance.

High-Quality Materials and Craftsmanship

The receiver is milled from durable 8620 steel, and the 24-inch chrome-lined barrel provides excellent longevity and precision. American walnut stock and forearm enhance the rifle’s durability and give it a vintage, authentic appearance.

Detachable Box Magazine

The rifle is chambered for .30-06 Springfield and uses a 20-round detachable box magazine. This feature combines historical accuracy with practical functionality for modern shooters.

“It is beautiful to look at. It is like checking out a very pretty woman, a classic car or motorcycle, or an airplane. It also has a long historic ancestry tied to it. Yes, it is a heavy weapon and 100-year-old technology designed by a genius, John Browning. But the quality in manufacture is really nice. Ohio Ordnance gets an A +++ vote from me.”
– Thomas
“Ordered in July and it showed up Aug 16th (ahead of estimated shipping times). What a magnificent beast it is. Overall this weapon is a 10/10. So happy to finally own this classic. Well done OOW! Can’t wait to go shoot it with live rounds and blanks with the BFA.”
– Todd
“I have owned several of these and they are all excellent plus more. I shoot mine all the time and have one for each of my grandsons when they are old enough. We are lucky that Bob had the vision to create this rifle for us to enjoy!”
– Jerry
